Support available from Connexions Trafford
It can be helpful to talk to someone when you’re having trouble coping with feelings and difficult situations.
We have Relate counsellors who can be seen at our Stretford Connexions Centre, they deal with a range of young people with many different issues including, family and relationship matters, anger, anxiety and depression.
If you feel it would be useful to talk to a counsellor about your experiences and feelings then please call us on 0161 911 8600 or drop into the Stretford Connexions Centre and ask to speak to a Personal Adviser.
Abusive Relationships
Being in a relationship should be great, but sometimes
- you can feel forced to do things you don't want to do
- you aren't allowed to see your friends
- you aren't allowed to wear what you want
- you feel isolated from your friends and family
- you have to say where you are all the time
There is a website you can visit which can help answer your questions about Teenage Relationship Abuse - thisisabuse.direct.gov.uk.
It can show you that
- you aren't alone
- it's not your fault
- what sort of behaviour is classed as abuse
- remind you that you don't have to stand for it
- places where your boyfriend or girlfriend can get help with their mistreatment of you.
There are videos on the site so you can see how abuse can happen anywhere.
Information about turning things around and becoming a better boyfriend or girlfriend who doesn't abuse their partner.
