Benefits
Your family can still get it when you study REMIND them to claim it. Child Benefit Helpline 0845 3021444.
If you are out of work you may be able to claim:
- Extended Child Benefit
Parents/Carers can claim this if you have just left school and are looking for work or training. You need to be registered with a Connexions Centre. - Income Support
Available if you are estranged from your Parents/Carers and you can prove you are living away from home. - Job Seekers Allowance
Only available to a few 16/17 year olds who are in severe hardship. You will need to talk to your Personal Adviser.
Care to Learn
If you are a parent under the age of 20 you can get help with childcare costs so that you can carry on studying. For more information speak to your Connexions Personal Adviser or visit www.direct.gov.uk.
Fair Pay
Greater Manchester Pay and Employment Rights (GMPER)
If you have ANY concerns about your wages or training allowance you can talk to your PA or ring GMPER 0161 839 3888, they have specialist staff who can answer any questions you may have or visit www.gmemploymentrights.org.uk.
National Minimum Wage (Oct 2010)
Employers must pay a National Minimum Wage:
£3.64 per hour for workers aged 16-17
£4.92 per hour for workers aged 18-20
£2.50 per hour for Apprentices under 19 or in their first year of training
