General Health
Good health is important if you want to enjoy life to the full, so:
- Think about ways to stay healthy.
- Don’t put off getting help with any health problems you may have.
- Don’t struggle on your own - get support early before the problems get too big.
If you feel you can’t talk to your family about what’s worrying you, speak to your Connexions Adviser.
NHS Teen LifeCheck is a health quiz just for 12–15 year olds.
Not only does it give you information about diet and exercise but you can find out about...
- Drugs, solvents, alcohol and smoking
- Safe sex
- Bullying, feeling stressed or under pressure
- Personal safety and crime
The online system will let you check your health and give you ideas about how you can be healthier.
All your answers are private and the advice you get relates to the answers you give.
Mental Health
Young people have alot on their minds nowadays and sometimes you can feel out of control. There are many people who can help if your worries and fears get on top of you. You can speak to a Connexions Adviser about what worries you or take a look at the sites mentioned below.
Who does it effect?
Mental illness can affect people of all ages and walks of life. As mental health problems are believed to arise from a number of different possible reasons (physical, social, environmental, genetic), anyone whose life is affected by these could be at risk of mental health problems.
Getting help
No one is expected to be able overcome mental health problems without support. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness- it takes courage to face a problem and look for a way to get better.
